This detailed historical map depicts Silesia during the First Silesian War (1740–1742), part of the wider struggle between Prussia and the Habsburg Monarchy over control of the strategically important region. Produced by French cartographer Georges-Louis Le Rouge, the map combines geographical information with the military perspective characteristic of maps designed to document contemporary theatres of war.
The map measures approximately 49.5 × 64 cm in its original form and was produced using copperplate engraving. Terrain is represented with traditional hill symbols, while towns, rivers, roads, territories, and other geographical features are carefully delineated.
A particularly notable feature is the decorative rocaille cartouche, crowned with the ducal arms of Silesia. The map also includes a detailed inset, Plan de Breslaw, showing Breslau (modern-day Wrocław), the capital of Silesia, providing additional detail on one of the region's most important cities.
